Datum fabrication studio is the result of over 20 years of training in art, design, construction, woodworking, and metal fabrication. I have been fortunate enough to have worked under, and with, a great many successful, and highly skilled, welders, carpenters, furniture designers, cabinet makers, architects, and artists. These experiences have helped inform my desire to sharpen and hone skills in the workshop, as well as foster a community of craftspersons and clients who prioritize sustainability, collaboration, and equity.
Collaboration and open communication are defining principles of our business practice. While we are happy to build to specifications, a conversation about material choice, finish options, and construction methodology will be a part of most client experiences. This dialogue allows for a more complete understanding of client intent and desired functionality from a furniture piece or built environment. Informed by these conversations, we will be better equipped to offer relevant opinions, suggestions, and alternatives that will affect aesthetic, formal, and financial results
